Two trips to Slate Rn

In Sept we made our trip to Slate Run. We love Slate Run! Emma and Jude took their Gram and Popaw to Slate Run for the first time. They wanted to see what all the fuss was about and we think that they understand now! We had fun taking a bike ride to the ice cream shop in Cedar Run on the "rails to trails". Then we took a hike in hunt of the infamous water fall and rope swing...to our dismay we did not find it. We did see some beautiful sights and had a great family pictures. I think that Gram and Popaw found the same peaceful beauty that we have fallen short of explaining with words and pictures.
The first weekend in Oct we made our way to Slate Run again with the Kauffman's. Emma and Jude had a great time with their cousins, playing in the leaves and running in the mud! It was a great relaxing weekend. We were able to share in a historic church service at Cedar Run Baptist Church as well. The church had a dedication service for the new addition to the building along with a luncheon. All in all it was a great weekend of relaxing with the family!

Hannah rained on our party!

In September we braved Tropical storm Hannah and continued with our plans to camp out at Gifford Pinchot State Park for the weekend. We went camping with some friends from church. Despite the rain we ended up having a great weekend. The guys had lots of fun being mountian men, gathering wood and keeping a roaring fire going despite the rain. They also used tarps to cover a large portion of the site to keep us dry. After the kiddos naps on Sat we decided to head out to find somewhere dry for the kiddos to run around and we ended up at the West Manchester Mall and Target. What FUN! Jude had too much fun in the mud and puddles and he was a riot to watch! 100% boy!

Summer in review

This summer has been a busy one and we thought that we would catch everyone up! Our busy summer started in May, Memorial day weekend. We ventured onto our first plane ride as a family of four! An adventure is what it was! The kiddos did fairly well, car seats to contain are most definitely a plus and worth the extra money. We flew from Baltimore to San Fransisco early Sat morning and drove to Monterey to see our dear friends The Bruces (Bob, Allison, Jordan and Reagan). We had a great stay with them, visiting, sight seeing, checking out beautiful Big Sur. After leaving them on Mon we traveled back north and stopped by my cousin Rachel's house close to San Jose. We went from there to our hotel in downtown San Fransisco. We stayed at this neat old hotel that was just off the square where Macy's, Nordstrom's etc. were located. We went to China town Tue morning and had fun walking around the city. We got to see the Golden Gate Bridge, the Sea Lions at pier 5 (a little smelly but very amusing), and lots of other really cool things. Jason even got to see the baseball stadium and take some pictures. It was a great weekend, very fast but a great family vacation.

Our next vacation was to the Outer Banks in North Carolina. It was a Peddicord/Reimers/Kauffman vacation (Heather's side of the family). We had a great time with all of us staying in one house. There were 20 of us in the house, WOW! We had a great time going to the beach by day, out to eat in the evening, ice cream by night. We also got to catch up with some friends from when we lived in Virginia. We stayed with Sheila and Gary in NC and had lunch with the Comfort Care ladies....SUSHI! We felt like we were going home when we attended our church CCC that we used to attend. Emma and Jude had a blast with there cousins all week and Emma loved holding her
newest cousin Noah.

The most recent trip was a weekend at the mountains. There are about 50 Kauffman's that converge on a beautiful little area, Slate Run, where there is a quaint cabin that the "Dutch Masters" started years and years ago. Jason's grandfather Ammon Kauffman and 15+ other guys built the cabin as a hunting camp when they were young men. Again the kiddos had a great time running, playing, swimming in the creek (Emma hated it this year,we'll try again next year!), tubing and EATING! We love being with the family and catching up with all the aunts, uncles and cousins.

Welcome

Hello Everyone!

I have decided that I would stay in touch and keep a record of the the kids. Emma is a beautiful 2 1/2 year old that amazes me daily. Jude is a 1 1/2 year old 100% BOY! They are both full of energy and are playing together and enjoying each other more and more each day. I am blessed that the Lord saw fit to give me two little ones so close together. We are hoping to have #3 next year and are waiting patiently on Gods timing.

It is getting close to lunch time, Emma is getting Jude to sit at their little table and is serving him some lunch (with play food). He is not really into sitting on command for his sister ; ) I hope to continue to update this blog on a regular basis to keep everyone in the loop.
