Summer in review

This summer has been a busy one and we thought that we would catch everyone up! Our busy summer started in May, Memorial day weekend. We ventured onto our first plane ride as a family of four! An adventure is what it was! The kiddos did fairly well, car seats to contain are most definitely a plus and worth the extra money. We flew from Baltimore to San Fransisco early Sat morning and drove to Monterey to see our dear friends The Bruces (Bob, Allison, Jordan and Reagan). We had a great stay with them, visiting, sight seeing, checking out beautiful Big Sur. After leaving them on Mon we traveled back north and stopped by my cousin Rachel's house close to San Jose. We went from there to our hotel in downtown San Fransisco. We stayed at this neat old hotel that was just off the square where Macy's, Nordstrom's etc. were located. We went to China town Tue morning and had fun walking around the city. We got to see the Golden Gate Bridge, the Sea Lions at pier 5 (a little smelly but very amusing), and lots of other really cool things. Jason even got to see the baseball stadium and take some pictures. It was a great weekend, very fast but a great family vacation.

Our next vacation was to the Outer Banks in North Carolina. It was a Peddicord/Reimers/Kauffman vacation (Heather's side of the family). We had a great time with all of us staying in one house. There were 20 of us in the house, WOW! We had a great time going to the beach by day, out to eat in the evening, ice cream by night. We also got to catch up with some friends from when we lived in Virginia. We stayed with Sheila and Gary in NC and had lunch with the Comfort Care ladies....SUSHI! We felt like we were going home when we attended our church CCC that we used to attend. Emma and Jude had a blast with there cousins all week and Emma loved holding her
newest cousin Noah.

The most recent trip was a weekend at the mountains. There are about 50 Kauffman's that converge on a beautiful little area, Slate Run, where there is a quaint cabin that the "Dutch Masters" started years and years ago. Jason's grandfather Ammon Kauffman and 15+ other guys built the cabin as a hunting camp when they were young men. Again the kiddos had a great time running, playing, swimming in the creek (Emma hated it this year,we'll try again next year!), tubing and EATING! We love being with the family and catching up with all the aunts, uncles and cousins.
